The first, and without doubt the most significant of his works on this subject, is this <em data-start=\"769\" data-end=\"790\">Treatise on Colours<\/em>, here reproduced while respecting as closely as possible the appeal of the original edition first published in Malta in 1787 (&#8230;).\u201d (p.
