Eduardo Souto de Moura: Works<\/em> forms part of an editorial project dedicated to the theme of contemporary intervention in the built environment, with the aim of providing a pedagogical tool for both architectural education and professional practice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">As Eduardo Souto de Moura states:<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">\u201cAs an architect, I do not believe it is appropriate to distinguish between an intervention in a historic building and a new construction. A new building rarely, if ever, starts from scratch: there is always a pre-existing condition, there are always places, sites, an accumulated \u2018heritage\u2019.
